Profile of Catherine PurdieI became interested in photography at an early age when I had an opportunity to learn how to develop photos with my father. I remember the awe I felt when, by the light of the red safe light, I saw my first black & white image appearing on the photo paper as if by magic. Although I have been "into" photography since then, I have only dabbled in it and would probably consider myself to be a dilettante. I have owned many cameras and have had several dark rooms, and in early 2000 made the decision to switch to digital and since then I am now on my third digital camera. I would consider myself as "someone who likes to take pictures" rather than a "photographer". I think what draws me to photography is my fascination with how you can trap light, shadows and colour in a permanent image and then view the moment in time again and again.
